Start with the manufacturer's instructions
Cleaning methods for aluminium and PVC surfaces can vary depending on the finish and system. Start by checking the care instructions for your product. For routine cleaning, use a soft cloth and a cleaner suitable for the surface. Strong solvents, abrasive materials and hard scrapers can damage the finish. For stubborn marks, ask which cleaner is appropriate rather than trying chemicals at random.
Treat the glass and frame separately
A glass cleaner may not be suitable for every frame or decorative finish. Gently remove dust before cleaning. Rinse and dry as recommended by the product instructions. For exterior glass that cannot be reached safely, choose a professional service with suitable access equipment. Do not lean out of a window to clean it.
Check seals and tracks
Dirt on seals and small objects in tracks can affect operation. Gently remove visible dirt without pulling out the seal or using a sharp tool. Where drainage openings are present, keep them clear using the method specified by the manufacturer. Sliding tracks benefit from regular removal of sand and dust. If water is not draining correctly, contact the installation team.
Do not force a stiff mechanism
A sash that will not close, a loose handle or a rubbing sound may indicate that adjustment is needed. Instead of applying excessive force to the handle, send the installation team a photo or short video of the problem. Lubrication points and suitable products depend on the hardware model, so avoid using an arbitrary lubricant. Cracks, loose fixings and damaged glass should be assessed by a specialist.
