Consider dimensions and opening styles together
Correct measurements for a PVC window involve more than the width and height of the wall opening. The frame, sash, wall junction and existing sill also need assessment. Furniture and curtains can affect how the window opens. Fixed glazing, an opening sash and tilt-and-turn options serve different needs. Include access for cleaning and ventilation in your decision.
Glazing and frames form one system
The frame alone does not determine a window's performance or everyday usability. Glazing, edge details, seals and hardware work together. If thermal or acoustic comfort is a priority, explain your expectations when requesting a quote. Ask for the glazing specification and the selected system's technical data. A general term such as double glazing does not, by itself, make two products equivalent.
Ask about installation and finishing work
Discuss how the new frame will be fixed to the wall, how the junctions will be finished and how the existing frame will be removed. Ask whether repairs to internal or external surfaces will be required after replacement. Opening, closing, locking and sash movement should be checked after installation. Obtain the care instructions and warranty terms in writing.
